As we draw a close on the summer season and many of us start to plan crossings or yard time, our team are focusing on offering clients the opportunity to learn more about the relevant training courses we offer in collaboration with Warsash Superyacht Academy. As qualified professionals, Superyacht crew often feel that once experienced, they cannot or need not, go back to training. As a result they miss out on an opportunity to update their expertise on the latest procedures and processes or boost their already established base of knowledge.

This could not be further from the truth, going ‘back to school’ and essentially refreshing your knowledge is essential, not only to crew professional development but also extremely beneficial to the yacht.

A Superyacht’s single most important asset is the crew onboard and thus investment in those individuals is a huge positive for crew retention but most importantly, an obvious way to increase safety at sea.

At dsnm, we work in partnership with the prestigious Warsash Superyacht Academy, offering a full range of deck courses including our own bespoke Bridge Operation Refresher course.

Training is something that many of our clients have requested over the years and with our primary focus on safety at sea, we are encouraged by the amount of Superyacht crew who have already taken the opportunity to use our courses to refresh or further their knowledge.

Warsash Superyacht Academy, part of Southampton Solent University, is considered the premier educational organisation in the marine industry and the global centre of maritime excellence for education. We are extremely proud to be able work alongside a team who have the same ethos towards safety as us at dsnm.

Yes, absolutely, that is the beauty of these courses, we work with you from the outset to ensure they cover everything you wish.

What is the duration of the courses?
They vary in length from a half day course to three days

Do you have any feedback from previous courses you have provided?
“With many of our navigation team onboard having worked on yachts for a number of years, we decided to get the dsnm training guys onboard to give us all a bit of a refresher. It was perfect as the training was provided onboard and was applicable to our second officer, chief officer and myself the Captain. We didn’t quite realise how much we would benefit from the day, but it really was invaluable and I would definitely recommend!“
